Neil Westergarrd of the Denver Business Journal wrote an interesting article last week, entitled, “Here comes “Generation Y” to the rescue … again.” Westergarrd discusses the many predictions out there that Generation Y will save the real estate market. This has been all the buzz lately with David Stevens, the head of the Federal Housing Administration, recently predicting that Gen Y willl spur a buying boom that is similar to their grandparents’ in the mid-20th century.

Allied Van Lines released a report this week, naming Colorado as the second most popular relocation destination in the country. The report calculated the number of households (2,190) arriving in Colorado last year versus households (1,786) leaving Colorado last year, resulting in a net gain of 404 households.
Only Texas beat Colorado out as the top relocation destination. Florida, South Carolina, and Arizona also made the list of popular relocation destinations.

It is hard to believe that we are already wrapping up the year and looking to 2011. The past year (2010) has been an interesting one for both the local and national real estate markets.
