Highlands Real EstateDenver’s Highlands Neighborhood

“Highlands” is an encompassing term, describing two of Denver’s most popular neighborhoods – Highland and West Highland. The boundaries of the Highlands neighborhood, which is located just northwest of downtown Denver, are 38th Ave., Zuni St., W. 32nd Ave., and Federal Blvd. Highlands is also nearby the trendy Denver neighborhoods of Berkeley, Jefferson Park, and Sunnyside.

Highlands’ roots date back to 1858, but it has simply boomed in the last decade, as it has transformed from a rundown urban area to one of the trendiest sought-after neighborhoods in the Denver area. This rapid conversion was the result of the redevelopment of the Central Platte Valley, along with the opening of several bridges connecting it to downtown Denver.

The Highlands community prides itself on its diversity that comes from its Mexican, Italian, Irish and German residents. This rich ethnic diversity strongly influences its churches, schools, restaurants and boutiques. Highlands residents are a good mix of working professionals who need to be close to downtown Denver, and young families who want to take advantage of Denver’s recreational and cultural opportunities.

Highlands Real Estate

Highlands real estate is as diverse as its population. Highlands homes showcase many traditional Victorian features, including exposed brick walls and winding staircases. The neighborhood is also a prime target for renovators who thrive on remodeling and reconstructing the aging homes. Because of its budding commercial activity, Highlands is also home to many modernized condo and loft projects. There is truly something for every homebuyer in the Highlands neighborhood.
